The Hague Bowen Therapy Clinic
Treatment with the Bowen Technique
A treatment begins with the taking of a detailed history. This is followed by a physical examination which covers things such as muscle and joint function, posture and the existence of trigger points. The actual treatment comes next and the session if finalised with a short post treatment discussion. Often the client is given exercises to do to maximize the effect of the treatment and assist the body in healing itself.
The Bowen Technique comprises a series of "moves" over muscles, tendons and ligaments. The moves are administered with the fingers and thumbs, and are for the most part painless. Occasionally the therapist may take a short break to give the clients body time to react to a series of moves.
With the Bowen Technique, the whole body is treated, not just the condition or the place where the pain is felt. Most clients experience deep relaxation while receiving the Bowen Technique.
Treatments are usually 3 - 7 days apart and last between 20 and 40 minutes.
NB: The Bowen Technique is not meant as a replacement for regular medical advice. If you have any doubts over the nature of your condition please contact a medical practitioner.
