Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a treatment last?

Treatments vary in length according to the condition of the client. The client is usually treated for 20 to 25 minutes. This is preceded and followed by a brief discussion to assess the clients progress. The entire session usually lasts between 30 and 35 minutes.

The initial session usually lasts up to an 45 minutes as it includes the taking of a detailed history prior to treatment.

How regularly do I need treatments?

Treatments are usually spaced between 3 to 10 days apart, with the average being 3 to 7 days. Some clients need ongoing treatments and these usually occur between 1 and 6 months apart.

Do I need to take off my clothes?

Yes and No. Most treatments can be done through light, loose clothing, preferably made from natural fibres. It is important that the fabric is not slippery so that the therapist can grip the tissue beneath the clothes. For this reason silk should be avoided.

A cotton T-shirt and shorts are ideal.

Sometimes it is also preferable that the physical examination takes place with the client in their underwear. The client can then put some clothes on if they wish.

On occasions, other techniques may be combined with the Bowen Technique to provide maximum results. These are better preformed on the skin but can be performed through clothes.

What do I need to bring?

If you are taking any medication or vitamins please bring the information sheet that comes with the product when you come for your first treatment. You will be able to take this home after the initial treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

It is impossible to say. On average acute conditions (less than three months) respond with 1-3 treatments. Chronic (longer than three months duration) conditions often have long lasting improvements within 1-5 treatments. Naturally there are cases that require more treatments.

How much does a treatment cost?

Treatments currently cost €40.00. This can be paid in cash or by bank transfer.

The fee is reviewed periodically.

NB: The Bowen Technique is not meant as a replacement for regular medical advice. If you have any doubts over the nature of your condition please contact a medical practitioner.
